ABOUT ME
Salvatore Caruso, aka DONE, born in 1989, is a multimedia artist, media designer and visual experimenter. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan with a Master of Art, specializing in new technologies, multimedia arts, interactive installations and performing techniques.
Active in the art scene since 2010, DONE has over a decade of experience in media design, entertainment, digital culture, and the nightlife scene. His work spans visual performance, stage design, experimental installations and critical theory.
His artistic research is rooted in the analysis of extreme conditions and behaviors of contemporary society. Through a hybrid of visual art, performance, and conceptual provocation, he explores the need for a technical, artistic, and cultural revolution to keep pace with the hyper-connected, post-digital age. This non-conventional investigation focuses on time, space and language as they are shaped by digital society, while highlighting the urgent struggle for intellectual autonomy, ethical awareness, and emotional resilience in an increasingly manipulated and automated reality.
His ongoing body of work, Radical Shit, is an artistic exploration of grotesque and radical imaginaries of the contemporary world. Using controversial imagery and speculative scenarios, the project offers a raw and unfiltered representation of social chaos — from data-driven networks connecting CEOs and anonymous workers, to conceptual bio-shops selling human meat. These exaggerated visions reflect a sick but lucid view of our increasingly radicalized world.
In 2022, DONE founded Vizzz Vizzz, a cultural collective and experimental platform focused on immersive installations, visual performance and hybrid experiences. The group develops projects that address themes of spirituality, identity and transcendence, merging glitch aesthetics, generative visuals, and symbolic narratives to provoke reflection and sensory engagement.
Beyond his artistic production, DONE is also engaged in theoretical work on the ethics of information, the sustainability of art in automated systems, and the future of creativity under technological domination. His book Arte o Morte (Art or Death) is a radical manifesto and critical essay that defends creative freedom as a fundamental act of resistance — a call to preserve intellectual independence in the face of algorithmic control and cultural flattening.

Book: Art or Death
Arte o Morte
Come la tecnologia modifica l'attività umana
Art or Death is a radical reflection on the future of creativity in a world increasingly dominated by automation, data, and artificial intelligence. Through a hybrid of essay and manifesto, Salvatore Caruso aka DONE explores the role of art as a last bastion of intellectual autonomy and emotional resistance against the growing standardization of thought.
The book investigates how technology is reshaping human activity—creativity, perception, communication—and challenges the reader to defend the artistic act as a tool for survival. In an era where algorithms influence choices and compress the imagination, Art or Death calls for a renewed cultural awareness and a redefinition of what it means to be human.
From post-human theories to the spiritual crisis of contemporary media, this book offers an uncompromising perspective on the contradictions of the digital age.
